Evidently, long ago, this whale was shot with an exploding spear head and lived with it embedded in its body for possibly 100 years.

The part that caught my attention was this:
"He couldn't have been that bothered if he lived for another 100 years." - John Bockstoce, adjunct curator of the New Bedford Whaling Museum
Oh, really. I have heard from a reliable source close to the whale in question, that he often regretted not having the spear tip removed though it did give him a killer scar that all the chicks dug.
