Most of you knew that we were putting the brakes on this beast, but for those of you that didn't or are catching up . . . we hit our 500th episode and are putting Croncast to bed.

We've had a great time since November of 2004 putting out shows. The rewards from doing this show are too numerous to list but the few that stand out are meeting so many great listeners and fellow podcasters through the years. You guys have shared many insights with us and let us know that our experiences aren't so dissimilar from your own.

The best part is that we aren't done creating shows!

Starting on June 27th, 2008 we will still be cranking them out 3 times a week at Life in the Can, but with a special twist. We'll also be producing a weekly episode that is the best of all three shows from that week, with a special twist.

Yep, I wrote that twice.

The weekly episode will use the previous three episodes like they were brainstorming sessions and we'll pick the best bits and re-record them. We want to push ourselves in another direction and utilize the same skills that I have used for years producing audio for clients. It's time to try something new with our own show.

For the next few months you'll be able to get the new shows through the regular Croncast RSS feeds so that you won't have to resubscribe to the new show right away, though, I'd recommend it. You'll be able to decide which of the shows you'd like to receive.

One last thing, our entire Croncast archive will remain online for the foreseeable future so that anyone can enjoy the shows.

We hope that you'll join us over at Life in the Can in a couple weeks and get your laughing fix with Betsy and Mr. B.

I thought you guys might like to know of a semi-hidden page within the site for archived podcasts. Sure you have to download them one by one but I also have added the archive feeds to it so you can add them to iTunes or other podcast aggregator to download the shows in bulk.

Post title . . . makes me laugh every time I say it or type it.

Anyway, I'm getting around to making these posts, finally, four days into our break for March. It has been crazy around here. When isn't it, right?

I wanted to notify the blog only people of the things that we are offering this month to catch people up and to make downloading archive shows easier.

Catch up with us while we are on break

For those of you with a desire to catch up with the show while we are on hiatus (cause that is what they call it in the biz, ha!).I have created some really kick ass automated RSS feeds that do some cool stuff.

The first is the catch up with us in 22 days. The podcasts are sent one for every weekday in March. The 22 archive shows were selected by Mike Marusin, Betsy and myself as a retrospective of what a Croncast listener might like to hear again and a newbie should hear for the first time, like the vacation shows.

The second is a feed that will send you a new show every weekday until we quit doing the show. Seriously, it will just keep sending you a new show every weekday out of the archive from with the date you sign up. Enjoy!

ARCHIVES - There are a few ways to download archived shows besides clicking the green "download" button for every single show.

1. This way is kind of cool . . . one show sent to you every weekday from our first show all the
way to most recent. Chances are you won't catch up to the newest shows with this feed but
it is a way to get a Croncast every weekday to brighten your morning commute!

Get this feed (only available from the Archives Page).

2. Start from the very beginning and load up! Subscribe to each one of these feeds to
to download the archives. I would do one RSS feed but it exceeds the "valid" size limit
of 200k used by most readers. How's that for nerdy?

It's the last show until April 2nd . . . and I am sick! Not on the show, but today.

Betsy and I want to thank all of you for listening, emailing, commenting and becoming close to us. Doing the show is something that we love to do and are amazed most of the time that it can bring people to laughing wildly and looking awkward in places like offices, trains, planes, cubes, cancer research labs or in their car when people pull up next to them and stare.

Starting later today there will be two nerdish ways to catch up on Croncast.

I will put up two new RSS feeds, one that will let you download 1 show per every weekday from the beginning of the show and another that is "Catch up with Croncast in 22 days". This RSS feed will deliver 1 of 22 shows on weekdays the entire month of March. It's like the first feed just for those who want to catch up quickly . . . if an entire month is quick!

And for those of you without the patience for either check out the archive page. The easiest way to download past shows is to subscribe to a set of 5 RSS feeds that I have put together and will have a little later today. That way you can download 'til your Croncast fix is met.

There are no show notes for today's show. Betsy and I have a great time to start off the show for 10 minutes and then get down to talking about something that made 2006 a very interesting year for us. You'll just have to listen to find out what that was.

Workin' the archive page

I've had some time to mess around with our archive page and have made some better organization of it for those of you are new to the show or are looking for old shows.

The archive page goes back all the way to our very first show in the Fall of '04 and lists the shows by . . . get this . . . month/year and a count of podcasts that month. Sweet!

I'm feeling some changes coming on in the way that we link to shows or either the entire site for the new year. So if you want to get a sense of what is to come you can keep on eye on my sandbox . . . the archive page.
