The winner for my attention tonight was 20+ minutes was the A&R Channel, ARC, buried deep in the Comcast On Demand menu system.

Don't get me wrong here people, I am lucky to have gotten out alive to write this.

What sits in the bowels of ON Demand is usually bite sized bits of crap buried five menus deep under a layer of mediocre software and a UI so thick that I loathe entering into it. It's like content quicksand.

Tonight, however, I survived and found something so awesome and worthy that I thought it was time to shout about it. In the Music section of ON Demand there was a button, link, what have you, that listed the A&R Channel. I pressed OK to select it (and so should you) and then paged to the second menu for Keen on Media. Clicked it. Then read the info on ARC: Andrew Keen (yes, that Andrew Keen) interviews Ken Hertz, a dude who makes a living as music attorney.

I guess the reason that I am so excited about this is that I watched a show that looked like it was a podcast. It looked like it came from the internet. It looked like it was playing from that Apple device that puts moving pictures on my TV set. And not to be left out . . . the content was niche. When was the last time you watched something on television and a guest said Web 1.0, Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 in succession? Never.

There sitting in front of me were the guys from the picture above, a media attorney and Mr. Cult of the Amateur, participating in the future of television; the marriage of IPTV, podcasts, internet shows, our television sets and the traditional distribution of cable and satellite programming.

So who's making it happen?

From what I can tell from quick research it appears to be Seth Shapiro or his company New Amsterdam Media. Does anybody know for sure?

Real French Maids tracking web buzz

Google translate sends us a visitor (see what we look like in French), awesome. Was it wii friend code, john elway dodge, beck, dr. oz?

Nope. I believe it was a real French Maid (I am only guessing, but I think it is a socialist French Maid union of some type) tracking internet buzz about 'French Maids'. It is possible that they have hired a new web savvy maid that doubles as a secret agent consultant to ensure that her fellow sisters around the globe are being treated well.

So, Tim, you better look out. Soon your maids are going to organize and might just want benefits beyond tight polyester outfits and internet fame. Good luck my friend.

Super short show notes. It was a slow day in the Croncast world so we tried something new on the show. Not quite sure how it turned out. I'm not sure we'll be doing it again.

The thing? What we did? We addressed comments of late regarding some of the things we've said and done. Topics like age (you know we are only kidding!) and Betsy's QVC fashion show.

Think of this show as a anomaly in the Croncast world as we also address naming the show 'Croncast' and why Palegroove.

We answer many questions that people have had about the show and our lives that we rarely speak to.

In the last 48 hours I've had a catastrophic hard drive crash and none of the data is salvageable. Meaning .wav files that I have retrieved sound like a mash up between Dr. John, Van Halen, intergalactic static and Betsy on meth. My ipod won't even turn on or power up or charge and a Mirra personal server that I bought to start backing up other data seems to be just crap on my little network. Arrrrgh.

Today's show was recorded last night because we were going pretty busy this morning, Betsy off to the doctor and the man off to school. The show is pretty long today, which is what seems to happen when we record at night.

Tomorrow I will be doing a solo show that I will record really early in the morning because I will be a guest on Richie Carey's podcast and at 9:00 a.m I am recording my own show with Nicole Simon from useful-sounds.de to air this Thursday (her birthday!).

Betsy is in tow for Wednesday and Friday so look out for the special show with Nicole. Next week I hope to get Dr. Susan Manning back in here and continue my conversation with Dan Balzer about podcasting in education.
