It's here! The Resale Queen Podcast

We managed to crank out Betsy's first Resale Queen podcast this morning!

It took me about 7 hours to get everything in place - feeds, graphics (more to come) and general audio editing. The first shows are usually the hardest.

The show's focus is on resale issues and happenings in the resale community. I had no idea that there were 'happenings' or a 'community'.

I'll be co-hosting the show with Betsy every Saturday with some special guests mixed in on occasion.

The show will be released by 9 a.m. CST every Saturday morning for your junkin' days.

We're Back. Yes we are. Part 2

We're back with what we are calling 'Season 4'. It's completely arbitrary since we have never had another 'season'. They've all been Croncast!

For those of you that have listened to today's show or read the show notes, the following won't be a surprise - Betsy and I have made the decision that we will be ending Croncast when we hit the 500 show mark in a few months. The 500th Croncast will happen sometime in late April or early May.

Don't be sad! That is 50 more shows. More than most podcasters ever produce.

For the last two weeks we have been discussing our options with the show format and frequency and it seemed to make sense to us to move forward the same way that we have for the last few years. This way the chemistry stays intact and at the end of the run we've got a cohesive library of work.

So for the next few months we'll be here like clockwork every Monday, Wednesday and Friday like usual but once we hit 500 the lights will go dark on Croncast as we know it.

Our goal is to make the next fifty shows some of the best that we've ever done. We don't want to fade away or end on a sour note. We want it to be the the same Croncast that we all enjoy, you and us.

What's next?

Starting Saturday, January 19th we will begin releasing The Resale Queen Podcast. Each week the show will focus on a couple of topics that make Betsy's resale world go round and how they might help anybody with a resale gene become a better junker or clean that newest find for sale on eBay.

I'll be co-hosting with Betsy and acting as her manager. Somebody's got to make sure she records a show each week!

Move to Naperville and hang with us

Speaking of Mr. Klau, you can purchase his former abode here in Naperville. With this purchase you can not only have beautiful home with a sweet basement bar but you can hang with some of Naperville's finest nerds.

If you buy it, yes you reading this post, you'll get a dinner for two with Betsy and I to give you the dirt on your new town. Rick, Robin, this will sell your house!

And maybe most significantly, we loved how close we were to some of Naperville's gems: Ribfest (walking distance to that most gluttonous of charitable events!), Last Fling (seeing They Might Be Giants a couple years ago was a highlight), and the Riverwalk. We spent a ton of time walking around downtown - between the library (#1 in the country!), the restaurants, Andersen's bookshop, events like Oktoberfest, there were plenty of opportunities - which was just a mile away.

We added a bit of history to the house, hosting Barack Obama for a fundraiser during his 2004 Senate run.

Podkive's cooking up a cool little player

I talked with Shahram at Podkive today and he gave me a demo of a flash audio/video(flv currently)/jpg/pdf player he's been working on. It is really slick with all the bells and whistles and some more to come.

Out of all the flash players that I have seen this is the only one that I would use for my own podcast that comes from a vendor.

Croncast on Morning Stories

Betsy and I were on Morning Stories today.

A great pdocast which most of you already know but for those of you who aren't familiar with Morning Stories it is a podcast produced by Tony Kahn from WGBH in Boston.

Thank you, Tony and Gary, for making us a part of Morning Stories.

Croncast listeners should also know that without some encouraging words very early on in podcasting from Tony, we might not have continued on this path.

So when you hear Tony hosting the World on NPR or any other radio show, think of him as I do, a podcaster first and the warm voice of meaningful stories.

Look for a return of show notes in the next few weeks as I get back on track or some sort of schedule now that I am back at work. I need a routine.

And my blog is still down at kristophersmith.com. The debacle hasn't ended for the old hosting company. So those of you who used to use the feed from this site to get the shows should probably swtich over to the feed from this site.
