When they started arriving a few weeks ago I actually thought they were from a "cool" gear company.

Seriously, the Guitar Center brand - monster truck style radio spots, 1968 acoustic guitar silhouette logo and fried out metal head working the door are poof gone with a slight touch of the new millennium.

When a typical GC catalog shows up I won't open them. They are packed with crap on every page, lame ass interviews (Sweetwater is guilty of this too), every giveaway known to man that can get you in to the store and testimonials that mean absolutely nothing. The new micro-catalogs are nothing like it, spare, open, designed, real interviews that don't read like canned copy from an editor and niche. Almost like I'm not getting a sales pitch.

Or maybe they simply found a way to speak to me and the content is just as lame as always, but the design contemporary.
