Talking French Maids with Tim

Last night I met up with Tim Street creator of FrenchMaidTV.com in Chicago, as this is where I live and he's in town for a video shoot.

After learning about Tim's folks running a greasy spoon in Florida we started talking podcasting and I mentioned that I had pitched potential client with actually producing a full blown show and how that flopped. At this point he dropped this gem on me, "we're in the spectacle phase".

Which is an astute observation of the state of podcasting. He's right.

Now go watch French Maids hula with some special guests.

I am way under the weather today and it isn't just the snow. My voice is really tore up in this show and I have to force my voice quite a bit. Not to mention, there is not a real Kris laugh in the show. When I laugh for real I cough like an emphysemic grandfather.

Geek affect in full effect

Well, the video interview that I mentioned back in October from TECHcocktail 2 is now out. It is a good thing that we don't do a video podcast!

Thanks to Ed and Benjamin for coming down to Chicago from Technology Evangelist for coming down from The Twin Cities to shoot video and put a few away with us.

I get completely nerdy and invoke every nerd vocal affect and even throw in some raised eyebrows . . . which are much more noticeable when you have not a hair on your head.

You'll notice the launching forward when I speak, that is due to the noise in the bar and I wasn't sure that Ed was was two feet in fron of me would be able to hear me speak. It was loud! I could barely hear myself speaking. Benjamin did a great job picking up my voice or it was the mic but either way it sounds better than it did in the bar.

Podcast Academy 4 - I'll be speaking

Podcast Academy 4, "Podcasting and Video for the Professional at the Podcast and Portable Media Expo" was announced earlier today. It is being held the Thursday before the Podcast and Portable Media Expo begins, September 28, 2006.

I have the great fortune of being one of the instructors for this event. I will be presenting in a morning session on podcasting integration. The title of for my session is "Successful Web Design for Podcasting".

The goal of this session is to have attendees take away an understadning of the essential ingredients that go into a successful podcasting website. We'll discuss different types of podcasting websites, their ease of use or lack thereof, interactive elements, graphic treatments and campaign readiness.

Say what? Site design is often overlooked as many businesses begin the task of communicating with internal departments, external agencies and consultants after they have chosen to produce a podcast. The website is an afterthought, when it should be considered from the very beginning of the initiative.

I would recommend that if you are the individual chosen to become your company's resident expert in all things podcasting that you consider attending this event. There will be plenty to learn about audio podcasting and its sibling video podcasting from experts like:
