With so much going on around here - Croncast hiatus, kids on vacation, seeing old friends, the holidays and looking for a new job, I've got time to be both stressed and relaxed at the same time. Which, has my brain in a wildly creative state.
I was thinking about my life today, and more specifically my life with Betsy, and the circumstances in both of our lives when we knew each of the other was the "one". We had many of the same friends and participated in the same recreational activities but had not all that much in common. It was the right fit though!
Since that time, over 14 years ago, and like many married couples there have been good times and bad times. In all of these situations most of my memories of them include associations such as people, places and the emotions of those times.
As I was processing this out today while writing some code I was able to sum it up, if only to myself, like this - the only ghosts in this world are the ones that we create.
Life is all about choices. It's time to ring out the old and welcome the new!
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND YOURS!!!

JD Lasica had a short post about a Newsweek article by Peter Plagens, "Is Photography Dead?", that caught my attention. With my recent flickr addiction and new found ability to find amazing photographs, art quality, at least once a minute simply by refreshing the public timeline, I thought this piece would be spot on.
Turns out, not so much. But a great start to a discussion, yes.
Article summary and writer's argument in a single sentence:"The advent of digital technology only exacerbated photography's flight into fable." Reader comment that sums it up accurately (there are ton but this one works):"With the advances in digital cameras and film, I think the art of photography is accessible to more than it has ever been today." Read the article comments.

This award winning, uncomfortable 'game' as it's called, was waiting at one of Betsy's resale shops.
I'm not sure that buying a second hand game for probing is a good idea but could be fun on a blind date in Arkansas.

This is the other photo that I had printed on canvas as a gift for Betsy this Christmas. It has yet to arrive but will hopefully be here tomorrow!
This shot will go next to the other Waking up, girl that I posted about a week ago.
I had one of these blown up to 12 X 18 and got it framed tonight for my mother-in-law. It looks awesome. Long live flickr and their partners!

Betsy's perm is finally taking a backseat to her original hair texture and she is happy!
She asked me to take some shots this morning before cutting out to hit the shops (resale shops).

Elliot put together this crazy potato head this morning.
It was begging for a close up and place in the flickr stream.

Yesterday morning a comment came in from long time listener Kore Peterson with a very funny dancing Smith family on the other end of the link - Dancing Elf Smiths.
Thanks Kore for putting this together and sharing it!

Where else would be stop?
Betsy and I drove like crazy in a snow storm to get to Jeanie's husband, Evan's, graduation party in Bloomington, IL. We had about 10 minutes to kill and this is how we did it. Betsy style.
My physical response once in the store was to start texting and taking photos so I could avoid having to hold things she would pick up.

Maggie destroyed this cup of noodles for lunch. I think that she might have actually eaten six noodles.
Betsy and I are preparing the kids for college and the day when a cup of noodles is a culinary standard.
