Kris,
When I was a kid, my 'Popsie' would take us to go looking for 'crawdads' - that's what we called crayfish. We had this big long pole with a net built of wire on the end of it, and we'd fish - in a ditch, no less - for those crawdads. Then, we'd use them for bait to catch 'war-mouth bream' in the swamp.
