We've got everything square to hit the road on Friday June 2nd after the man wraps his kindergarten session. Summer officially begins. Now if it will just warm up! Most of you know we'll be heading off to Denver and Boulder. We know no one out there (I plan on a business meeting or two, so I know those guys) and are looking forward to bumming around. It has been a long time since we did one of these trips and it will be interesting to see how the kids react to it. Especially if we take the Scion xB. Hopefully, this "Slowsky" purchase will work out and it can handle a few thousand miles. On the way west we'll be taking I-80 which cuts through Iowa and Nebraska on the way to Colorado. If you are near any part of this trip let's meet up. Or if you have any recommendations for spots to visit post a comment here and we can set something up.

We live in Manhattan, KS and are about 3 hours from Omaha, NE. We have 3 children and whenever we head north, we find a way to stop at the Omaha Zoo. It is incredible. My favorite is the indoor penquin exhibit but they have a very cool rainforest too. We belong to our zoo here, (yes, we have a zoo in our town of 50,000, LOL) and that allows us to get in free to the Omaha Zoo. I say that in case you belong to any zoo friends group you should bring your card with you. They have a great website if you want to check it out.

Ollie's Big Game Lounge and Bar is pretty interesting. It's in Ogallala, NE and has a wild animal theme to it. Elliot might get a kick out of it. Beats the pants off the Rainforest Cafe, because all the animals are REAL...just taxidermed (is that a word?!)...BIG animals, too...bears, moose, buffalo, etc. My mom and sister went there years ago on their way to Boulder and thought it was pretty sweet. |
