Just bought tickets to see The Black Keys perform next month here in Chicago on the 25th. This will be my first live show for a touring band since Jolie Holland in the winter of 2005 when Betsy was carrying the baby. Not that it ever stopped but not on her hip is what I mean.
The bad news is that we are on a little vacation to a water park in central Illinois that weekend and might not be able to make it. I am pretty sure we will, these guys are the only artists besides Tom Waits that I have an aching desire to see live.

The Black Keys, My Morning Jacket and Wilco are all playing that weekend and I will be no where near Chicago. If it wasn't for that, I'd be there (or buying the tickets off of you if you can't make it)...
Were you able to see Tom Waits when he was in Chicago in August? I was 3rd row center for the Detroit show. Completely amazing. I will never forget it.

I go months obsessed with checking for tour dates and months where I don't. The Waits shows fall into the later.
When I saw your comment come in it was really a disappointment for me. Glad for you and the other cats who got to see the show.
Jolie Holland? Boy you ARE a cool dude. The Black Keys are cool too.
I guess it's not surprise you, too, love Tom Waits. Back in the 1900's I saw him in NYC for $400 (2 tix bought on ebay). I was probably a new single mom at that time, but it was the ONLY concert i went to for years before and after. It was totally worth it.

That is awesome. Single moms need good music too. I have got to find a time to see him some day. I just don't think my karma has been right.
Also, I heard that Jolie Holland is working with The Be Good Tanyas again. Or did for their new release. I still prefer her solo work though.
