Q: How do you stop your dog from barking in the back yard?
A: Put it in the front yard.

Kris you are right, I think it was the measles vaccination that left a mark. I remember it was mandatory. I got the vaccination but mine did not leave a mark.

Great show as usual! Betsy had me laughing in the face of these endless data queries here at work. Anyway, I think the vaccination mark you're talking about is the one for smallpox, which was given routinely, even in the big city (got mine in Philly), up until the early to mid 1970s. I don't know how old you guys are exactly, but it is entirely possible that Kris was just old enough to have gotten one in the mandatory days and Betsy just young enough to have missed the requirement.

Yup, small pox vaccine. I'm 40 and I have the scar. It was mandatory until someone deemed small pox to be eradicated from the planet. From what my mom told me, it wasn't a shot but a scratch thing. They scratched your skin and then put the vaccine in the wound. Nice, huh?

Kris you were a bit young when it originally came out, but the movie you were referring to was Animal House not 1941. Tom Hulce was the guy who made the unfortunate Kleenex discovery. BTW, quit talking about it and get your damn teeth fixed. Time to suck it up!

That's so funny, my husband and I have had that implants vs. push-up bra debate before. He want me to have implants but pokes at my bra if he knows I have anything "fake" in there. So weird! There should be some psychological study done.
And I will agree with you Kris - braces suck, they hurt a lot, and I got mine in a relatively developed small CT city, not a backwoods IL shack with chicken wire and a dentist's chair, so it's not just you. But veneers are relatively painless... except for in the wallet. It's so with it to have a nice smile.

Betsy is right about teeth!!! I had braces twice in the 70's and it involved a lot of metal and head gear. It did hurt but that was a long time ago.I married an orthodontist in 1991 and I know now that it is not the same as it used to be..If Betsy would get a boob job, which my friends tell me is a painful procedure, wouldnt kris want to fix his teeth for the same reasons? Your teeth tell the world a lot about how you feel inside and out. I guarantee you will be treated differently if your teeth are nice. Veneers, like Lisa G. say, dont hurt. I think you should do it for Betsy!

This was a totally hilarious show! Comments: Kris is right -- braces do hurt. At least, they did back in the 80s when I had them, headgear and all. Maybe it's better now. Also, I see that many others have confirmed the smallpox vaccination scar. I'm actually surprised that you were vaccinated. I am a bit older than you and didn't get it. I think it must have been stopped in some places earlier than others. My parents had it, though. Also, I agree with what Kris was saying about how it's weird that it's not socially acceptable to stuff your bra but implants are just fine. It seems like a double-standard or something.

OK Kris, I had braces not once, but twice in the 80s. The first time was in '82 and the second time in '88. The first time was for cosmetic purposes and were the '60s style braces. OUCH! The second time was prep work for jaw surgery. These braces weren't fun, but were SO MUCH more comfortable than the first set. I can only imagine that technology has improved since '88 and the pain isn't as bad. When I had jaw surgery in 1990 my jaws were wired shut for 6 1/2 weeks. Not fun, but so very worth it. Although the first set of braces was painful, the straightened teeth really helped my confidence levels because I was self-conscious of the ugly crooked teeth I had naturally. Yesterday, I was at the dentist for a cleaning and the dentist that I have been going to for 10 years stopped his day to admire my beautiful teeth. That confirmed to me, yet again, that all the pain was worth it. Stop being a wus and get your teeth fixed. It will help your marriage and your career! Love the show!

"Look kids it's ball man" Damn you guys had me rolling. Note to self, use caution when listening to Croncast in traffic. The eyes watering from laughter could be a problem.
